| Guest of Honour:
As a member of the Swiss Federal Council for a period of 15 years, Kaspar Villiger served as Finance Minister and Head of the Federal Department of Finance (1995-2003) as well as Minister of Defence
and Head of the Federal Military Department (1989-1995). He was President of the Swiss Confederation in 1995 and 2002. From 2004 until 2009 he served on the Boards of Nestlé, Swiss Re and Neue Zürcher Zeitung. From 2009 until 2012 Kaspar Villiger was Chairman of the Board of UBS. He is a member of the Global Leadership Foundation GLF and Chairman of the UBS Foundation for Economics in Society. Before his election to the Swiss Federal Council, Mr Villiger managed the Swiss parent firm of the Villiger Group, Villiger Söhne AG, for 23 years. He graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1966.
In 2004 Kaspar Villiger was honoured with an honorary doctorate from the University of Lucerne and in 2016 with the Freedom Award of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
